Blue Elderberry is a self-fertile, deciduous small fruit tree native to Western North America, from British Columbia as far South as Mexico, and are far east as Montana. It has been reported to do well in other parts of the country as well.
The blue elderberry throws big clusters of berries and flowers that are both are a native food source for wildlife and humans alike. They can be eaten fresh, but are best cooked or made into elderberry wine, jam, syrup, and pies.
Blue elderberry is self-fertile, but heavier yields may be realized by planting two or more blue elderberry bushes within 50 feet of each other.
*Please note that Blue elderberries are a separate subspecies of Sambucus and will not cross-pollinate other varieties.
Format: Well-rooted 1-yr old plant in 4" starter pot OR bareroot (seasonally depending). Bareroot plants are typically larger stock.
