2+ yr old, Fruiting Size Honeyberry (aka 'Haskap') plants, sold as bundle of (2) unique varieties to ensure proper cross-pollination and abundant crops. These will put on fruit next year if planted this fall/winter.
Extremely cold-hardy plants for USDA growing zones 2-9 that many say are like an improved version of a blueberry! These Japanese varieties also tolerate warmer weather than their more commonly available European counterparts.
Fun facts: Honeyberries have the highest antioxidant level of any berry available to home gardeners. More than blueberries, pomegranates, and even elderberries!
They are a true superfruit with numerous proven health benefits, the plants are incredibly easy to grow, and the fruits are absolutely delicious!
You will receive a total of 2 fruiting size plants, selected from the following varieties which we carry:
-Chito
-Keiko
-Kawai
-Pirika
-Taka
-Tana
-Willa
Plant them ASAP when you get them and apply at least 2-4 inches of mulch around their base
Plants are FRUITING-SIZE/AGE and will bear a small amount of fruit the first season, assuming they are planted and cared for properly.
Honeyberries/haskap are COLD HARDY plants and can tolerate temperatures down to -30 degrees...and No that's not a type-o so don't be shy about planting them if you are still experiencing cold weather in your area. They can be planted at any time of the year other than summer.
You will grow them in the same way you would grow blueberries, EXCEPT you don't need to worry about managing your soil's pH as much as you would blueberries, as they will perform well between a 4.0 - 8.0 pH level. Irrrigate well in the first frew seasons after planting and they will reward you will bountiful crops of flavorful berries, whose taste resembles a cross between a blueberry, raspberry, and black currant!
