About These Plants:
Depending on the variety (please do your own research), these will set fruit in 1-2 years. Varieties marked with an * are self-fertile. All other varieties listed are female plants unless otherwise noted. (1) male vine will pollinate up to (8) female plants that are planted within 100 feet of the male plant.
Please note that depending on the time of year that you order the item, it may be in its dormant stage (see pics for more).
These vines can typically grow up to 20 feet per year, but since they are fragile and easily damaged during the shipping process, we keep them "hard pruned" for shipping purposes, meaning your vine will typically be 12" - 36" long at most. They will spring back just fine once you plant them in the ground and will begin growing vigorously in a matter of months. Best time to plant is fall - very early spring.
Hardy Kiwis require lots of moisture, so plant them somewhere that is easy to water or put irrigation on them. They are a vine, so they will need some sort of support system, like a trellis, fence, side of a house, or even a large tree to climb up and latch onto. Full sun, partial sun, or even shade is fine. Full sun will yield more & sweeter fruit but will increase water demand. Be sure to mulch well after planting.
